Julia Torreblanca Named One of the ‘50 Most Powerful Women in Peru’ by Forbes

July 15, 2025 - Julia Torreblanca, Vice President of Corporate Affairs-Cerro Verde, has been named one of the “50 Most Powerful Women in Peru” by Forbes Peru in recognition of her contributions to the national mining sector.
Torreblanca also was recognized among the “10 most innovative and leading women in the country.”
Forbes Peru cited Torreblanca’s leadership both at Cerro Verde and as current president of National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy. Specifically, Torreblanca’s work in defense of private investment and sustainable development in her role with SNMPE were highlighted in the Forbes Peru list.
“I feel very honored and grateful to be included in this important list of women leaders who are making a difference in Peru,” Torreblanca said. “It’s a distinction that I share with all the women of Cerro Verde and in the mining sector who, with great courage and professionalism, continue to open spaces in a traditionally male-dominated industry.”
The list of the most powerful women in Peru highlights women whose work, leadership and drive have helped break down prejudices, generated disruption in various disciplines, and made visible the exceptional national female talent as a powerful force for the country, according to Forbes.
The selection criteria for the women on this list included: hard power (resources they manage, such as income or political appointments); soft power (decisions, communities, or population they lead); dynamic power (influence, communication skills, and media reach); and symbolic power (use of their image).
Torreblanca has been at Cerro Verde since 1997. In her current position, she is responsible for Legal, Government Relations, Public and Community Relations, Social Planning, Sustainability and Energy. Torreblanca also serves as Director of the Cerro Verde Association, in charge of managing the voluntary contributions of the company.
